Discover Hovawart Kennel
I have been involved in Search and Rescue and schutzhund sport for many years, and have always loved the German breeds. Looking for something a little less common than typical working breeds I came across the Hovawart. After all I read and studied I decided it was time to put the breed to the test. I imported Marie our Blond foundation bitch who already had earned her ZTP in Holland and had her bred to a very nice Black and Gold male in Belgium. That breeding began our program and our love for the breed. We intend to preserve good health, temperament and working ability in the Hovawart and will use SAR and Schutzhund Sport as selection tools as we join the few people dedicated to the Hovawart as a working breed. Marie is currently working in Cadaver Detection, Wilderness Search, and Protection. I love the guard work of the Hovawart which is intimidating, confident and powerful. I love that they are not on any breed Ban lists, and they are rare enough commercial breeders have not ruined them as a breed yet. We have been blessed to have some great help and education in the breed from Susan Garka who has been a great friend and Mentor. Maries A Litter is also proving very good at protection, Search work and Cadaver detection.
Currently our kennel consists of one Blond female imported from Belgium. Houwaerts Polly Marie whelped one litter in Belgium after earning her ZTP and is now here in the states to bring great genes to the states. Here is Marie's pedigree:
